Thanks for your interest in my Hands on Workshops.

Classes are held in my studio in Fort Collins, Colorado. There is a maximum of six people in each class, which allows for lots of individualized instruction. The cost is $700 for a three-day class. ($900 for the 4 Day Self Exploration Class) There is NO ADDITIONAL LAB FEE and all the wood you can turn is provided at no extra cost.

I have people of all different skill levels attend my 3-Day classes. I believe that no matter your level – beginner, intermediate and advanced students will benefit from the hands on instruction. Those students that are more advanced will have plenty of time to explore areas they are interested in, and those who are just starting out on their turning journey will receive a great introduction to a variety of topics. I have been teaching for more than 20 years, and I find that this stacked class format is beneficial for all.

Please note that due to Covid-19 we are no longer providing meals. You have two options: (1) you can bring your own lunches, or (2) for $10/day we can provide lunch each day, it will come from a local vendor, individually packed. Vegetarian options available. I have everything available here that you will need, including as much wood as you are able to turn. My studio is equipped with the highest quality equipment available for your use. Currently I have 7 Robust American Beauty Lathes for use. You will receive a download with a list of optional tools in your deposit registration email.

Details on 4-Day Self Exploration Class: This four day class is designed for students with recent turning experience who are looking to explore more advanced techniques. Students will get the most out of the class if they are comfortable hollowing, and experienced with the use of HSS tools (bowl gouge, spindle gouge, etc.) It is a “Self-Exploration” (SE) class where Trent and his assistant encourage participants to focus on areas they are interested in, but feel like they need some guidance bringing their work and ideas to the next level. Topics covered can vary greatly depending on the group/individuals interests, however in general Trent’s SE class covers hollowing and vessels in depth, extensive surface treatment, and carving techniques. Other topics that sometimes are of interest are sculptural turning, multi-axis turning, large form turning, etc. It is a great fit for those who have already attended Trent’s 3-Day Class. We really like to emphasize the “Self-Exploration” and encourage participants to focus on areas they are interested in and come with ideas. Class is 4-days and $900.

Coronavirus Guidelines: Due to Covid-19 we are implementing extra safety standards to keep yourself and others safe. To participate in the workshop you will be required to wear a mask while indoors, even if you have been vaccinated. The studio space has been re-organized to allow each person their own space, partially separated from others. Each space has its own set of tools, and shared tools will be properly cleaned in between use. We will have sanitizer stations available.
