Young Turner Scholarships

We are passionate about supporting the next generation of turners. In 2024 we offered our first scholarship for a young turner and in 2025 we continued this program, offering 3 scholarship opportunities for young turners. With your help, we hope to offer even more opportunities in 2026 and beyond. Not only for our workshops, but for young turners to take woodturning workshops all across the country (and maybe someday even the world).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What qualifies as a young turner? Scholarship opportunities are currently open to any person interested between the ages of 18-30. Although as the program grows, this is subject to change.

Why focus on young turners? In general, the field of woodturning consists of an older population. As someone who was introduced to turning in college, I think it is important to support the next generation of woodturners to both sustain the field and hopefully lower the median age.

How do I find out about scholarship opportunities? Scholarship opportunities will be posted on our website and promoted via our newsletter and social media.

Where does the money go? Money goes directly towards funding scholarships for young turners. Donations are used to cover tuition, wood, materials, travel and accommodation stipends, etc.

Is my donation tax deductible? Donations are not currently tax deductible. Stay tuned for potential changes in 2026.
