Our 1″ High Speed Steel Hollowing Tools are great for your hollowing needs up to about 14″ deep. Each tool comes ready to go with a sharp M2 High Speed Steel tip. When worn out, tips are easy to replace, replacement tips can be found here.
Why choose our HSS Hollowing Tools?
- Designed to be used by hand or with the Stabilizer (shanked down to 3/4″ on the end to fit in our 3/4″ Stabilizer).
- M2 HSS Tips are secured with super glue (no small set screws to loose, clog up or strip out) and easily replaced.
- Narrow profile for superior access and control – allows you to hollow longer before needing to clear out the shavings.

- Not all bent tools are created equally. Our Bent tools are designed so that the cutter is located on center with the shaft of the tool. This eliminates the rotary torque often associated with the hollowing process as long as you keep the tool rest behind the bent part of the tool .
- Designed by a woodturner for woodturners and made in our Fort Collins, Colorado shop.
Why choose HSS? Trent prefers the HSS tools, because they work well in a wide variety of materials. The HSS tip creates a small shaving that is easy to remove (even when you have form with a small opening) because it is a scraping tool.

These are quality additions to the Bosch hollowing tool portfolio. These 1” tools enable hollowing at deeper depths than the 3/4” tools. I would like to see options for hollowing vessels at depths of 15”-18”.

Ok first off and full disclosure. I’m a big fan of Trent Bosch tools. 3/4 5/8 carbides straight and curved, check. Tool handles for both, check. Stabilizer, check. Visualizer, check. Carving stand, check. I use them all. I just recently started turning larger and deeper hollow forms. The 1” steel tip turning tools gets me in 12” no problem, no vibration. Love it and honestly I may prefer working with HHS tipped tools more than carbide although each has there place. So yea I’m happy and if you’ve got a question, Trent is there to answer it.
